Corcoran’s bookkeeper saw an email that looked as if it was coming from Corcoran’s assistant, asking her to cut a check for almost $400,000.
“It was an invoice supposedly sent by my assistant to my bookkeeper approving the payment for a real estate renovation. There was no reason to be suspicious as I invest in a lot of real estate.” Stated Corcoran
Some may question how this can even be mistaken. If you have ever seen one of these emails, the scam email will look very similar to the actual email it is posing as. When busy people aren’t paying attention, it’s very easy to look over the details.⠀
